This is President Biden’s chance to make history and leave a legacy as a leader who stood for equality and justice when it mattered most. The ERA Coalition National Strategy Task Force calls one more time on President Biden to do the right thing and ensure that the publication of the Equal Rights Amendment is part of his legacy.
Zakiya Thomas, President and CEO of the ERA Coalition: “The ERA isn’t just a symbol; it’s a promise of justice and equality for everyone. President Biden has the power to make it real—and we need him to act now.”
Russ Feingold, President, the American Constitution Society:
“The Constitution is clear: once an amendment is ratified by the necessary number of states, it must be published. The ERA represents a critical step toward fulfilling America’s promise of equality under the law. President Biden, do the right thing—tell the National Archivist to publish the Equal Rights Amendment.”
Celina Stewart, CEO, League of Women Voters US:
“We demand immediate action to enshrine gender equality as an undeniable right in the US Constitution. Publishing the ERA will reaffirm our commitment to justice and fairness once and for all. President Biden, this is your chance to stand on the right side of history. Act boldly, act decisively—publish the ERA now.”
Sheila Katz, CEO, National Council of Jewish Women:
“President Biden has a historic opportunity to show true leadership. Publishing the Equal Rights Amendment is not just a legal obligation; it’s a moral imperative. Equality for women cannot remain a dream—it must be a reality. The time to act is now.”
Rosie Couture, Young Feminist Party:
“Our generation refuses to accept inequality as the status quo. The ERA is our future—it’s the promise of a country where women and marginalized communities are protected under the law. President Biden, we’re counting on you to step up and make history. Publish the Equal Rights Amendment now. Justice delayed is justice denied, and we won’t wait another century.
Margaret Mitchell, CEO, YWCA of the USA:
“Women have waited far too long for the promise of constitutional equality to become a reality. The Equal Rights Amendment has been ratified, the voices of the people are clear, and now it is time for President Biden to act. Publishing the ERA would not only affirm justice and equity but also solidify the President’s legacy as a leader who championed the rights and dignity of all at a pivotal moment in history. This is a defining opportunity to stand boldly on the right side of progress.”
The clock is ticking. The ERA is ready to become the 28th Amendment. We can’t wait another day for equality.
Mr. President, it’s time to act. The ERA has waited long enough. The National Archivist’s job is simple: follow the Constitution and publish amendments ratified by the states. By not acting, the Archivist continues the long history of holding women back. President Biden, you have the power to fix this. Tell the Archivist to do her job.
Publishing the ERA now has the support of the people—61% of voters, including 87% of Democrats and even 35% of Republicans. It’s time to honor their voices.
