Last Sunday, December 29, we learned of the passing of President Jimmy Carter.

We honor President Carter’s unwavering support for the Equal Rights Amendment. His steadfast dedication to gender equality and his tireless efforts to advance the ERA will forever be a part of his enduring legacy. President Carter's actions demonstrated his commitment to justice, and his work continues to inspire us in the fight for equality.

The Constitution does not impose time limits for the ratification of amendments. Yet, President Carter solidified his place in history by courageously challenging those who opposed the ERA's ratification. Notably, he extended the so-called time limit, reaffirming his belief that equality should not be bound by arbitrary constraints.

Thank you, President Carter, for standing on the right side of history and for championing a more equitable future. Your legacy lives on in the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality for all.
