The ERA Coalition, an organization led by women of color, is comprised of more than 290 organizations representing millions of people, whose common mission is to see the Equal Rights Amendment published and implemented within the United States Constitution. As we continue our fight for constitutional protections on the account of sex, many organizations have joined forces to become partners in the ERA Coalition. As a show of our gratitude and continued support, we would like to take a moment to spotlight our newest partners this month!

The Center for Intersectional Media & Entertainment (CIME)

The Center for Intersectional Media & Entertainment (CIME) brings together artists, academics, activists, audiences, and allies in the industry in a reinforcing circle of change that unites an interdisciplinary think tank with intersectional training and development. CIME embraces audiences’ demand for more diverse content, and empowers creators to positively and effectively impact culture. They forge inclusive, intersectional workforces that produce more representative narratives, increasing both goodwill and profits. Their three branches of programming (Heal: Wellness and Self Actualization; Rise: Education and Enrichment; and Create: Development, Production, Funding) are dedicated to cultivating and supporting intersectional leaders in media and entertainment. The Center for Intersectional Media & Entertainment (CIME) is partnering with the ERA Coalition this month to call upon each other’s expertise in the growth of our allied communities!

Women Make Movies

For over 50 years, Women Make Movies has been championing women filmmakers and their stories. They support women producers and directors from the beginning, planting the seeds for a diverse and inclusive filmmaking landscape. As the world’s leading distributor of independent films by and about women, we amplify historically ignored voices and challenge the mainstream media. WMM-supported films and filmmakers have been recognized at Sundance, the Emmys, the Peabodys, and the Academy Awards. Women Make Movies has partnered with the ERA Coalition today to work alongside one another to bring voice and action to each other’s needs in the pursuit of equality and the stronger representation of women everywhere.

Sinister Wisdom

Sinister Wisdom: A Multicultural Lesbian Literary & Art Journal features writing and artwork by folk across the gender spectrum, including trans, nonbinary, genderqueer, genderfluid, two-spirit, gender-nonconforming, and intersex, celebrating writer and artists who trouble gender. Sinister Wisdom is dedicated to exploring and celebrating transness! Included work appeals to and from transness in a range of mediums: interdisciplinary, genre-bending poetry, fiction, transcribed interviews, manifestos, essays, historical and theoretical deep dives, comic strips, visual art, photography, oral histories, speeches, intergenerational conversations, and collaborations. Sinister Wisdom has joined forces with the ERA Coalition this month to help fuel the momentum needed to finally publish and implement the Equal Rights Amendment within the U.S. Constitution, highlighting those working in artful and meaningful ways in doing so.
