WOMAN Corp announces impressive Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – NOVEMBER 17, 2022 – WOMAN Corp, in conjunction with the ERA Coalition, announces its founding board members today including political activist, Gloria Steinem, actors Julianne Moore, Rosanna Arquette, Aisha Tyler, Alyssa Milano, comedian Jena Friedman and Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney. Together, they will support a bold approach in the fight for women’s rights by bringing urgent attention to the need to finally recognize the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28^th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Earlier this month, the ERA Coalition announced the launch of the fully incorporated WOMAN Corp, the FIRST and ONLY ‘woman’ in America with rights the government will fight to expand and protect. WOMAN Corp was founded to raise awareness about the disturbing fact that the rights of women continue to be stripped away and that women do not have constitutional equality in the United States.

Additional WOMAN Corp board members include renowned trial lawyer Benjamin Crump, actor Gabriella Pizzolo, award-winning author Ilyasah Shabazz, lawyer and Virginia State Senate candidate Jennifer Carroll Foy, Ogilvy Global CEO Devika Bulchandani, Higher Heights Co-Founder Kimberly Peeler-Allen, Equality Now Global Executive Director Mona Sinha, former ERA Coalition President and CEO Carol Jenkins, academic, reproductive justice advocate, and human rights activist Loretta Ross, Zone Method Founder Fran Zone, Former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey, and TransLatin@ Coalition Founder Bamby Salcedo.

A staggering 85% of people in the United States believe that women are guaranteed equal rights to men under the Constitution. Unfortunately, that is not true and in fact, corporations have been gaining more protections than women! To impact change and call attention to this inequity, women have done everything from hunger strikes, to marching, to other forms of protest – and yet the Constitution still stands as is, without women having explicit equal protections under law.

“We are thrilled to have WOMAN Corp. supported by such an impactful group of advocates and public figures,” said ERA Coalition President and CEO Zakiya Thomas. “It is important that we all unite in this movement. It’s past time for the Equal Rights Amendment to be recognized as law.”

Despite 100 years of marching and protesting, and 50 years since the initial passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, the amendment has not been published. Through WOMAN Corp, the ERA Coalition hopes to empower Americans to continue to fight this prodigious inequality and mobilize congress to pass legislation to affirm the Equal Rights Amendment is part of the Constitution.

To debut WOMAN Corp, the ERA enlisted Gabriella (Gabby) Pizzolo – best known for her role in the blockbuster series ‘Stranger Things’ on Netflix – to launch this ceiling-shattering new company as its CEO. She introduced the founding of WOMAN Corp through a satirical video that is running across various digital and social platforms.
