We wanted to share with you this compelling address about Equality on the Senate Floor today by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). Senator Murkowski is the co-lead sponsor of SJ Res 6, the bill to remove the time limit on the Equal Rights Amendment.  You can watch the full address here.

Sen Ben Cardin (D-MD), the other co-lead sponsor of SJ Res 6, was unable to join Sen Murkowski for their scheduled colloquy this afternoon. He sent a message reiterating his support for the Equal Rights Amendment:

“We are proud to work together on a bipartisan basis to move this essential legislation over the finish line and finally make the ERApart of the Constitution — guaranteeing equality under the law for women. Women should not be held back or provided less opportunity, respect or protections under the law because of their gender. Gender equality should be an explicit, basic principle of our society. This is not a partisan issue but one of universal human rights.”
